Umbellularia californica is an evergreen tree of the family Lauraceae. These are green inside coastal forests of american North America from Douglas County, Oregon through California nearly to Mexico. These are too obtained in the american foothills of the Sierra Nevada mountains. A leaves come smooth edged & oval-shaped, likewise to the related Bay laurel and have a similar flavor and utilize when bay leaves. A wood is very firm & ticket, & is mass produced into bowls, spoons & more little things & sold when "myrtlewood". Its fruit is round & green, lightly spotted sustaining yellowness, & astir a single inch from side to side. It consists of the heavy covering above the tough, thin-shelled seed.

Inside Oregon, this tree is known as Oregon Myrtle, however around California it is called California Bay Laurel, which can be shortened to California Bay or California Laurel. It has too been known as California laurel.
